Prospective tourist guides should obtain the National Certificate in Tourism: Guiding at Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Thereafter, the guide has to register with the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) by submitting the relevant documents to the Provincial tourism authorities .

Makiti Guides & Tours (Pty) Ltd offers students the opportunity to study by combining online theory (www.culturalguiding.com) and offline training (Workbooks, Practical and a Skills Assessment Workshop.) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also available.

The costs are based on Students enrolled for the Gauteng Provincial Course and attendance of the Workshop at the Pretoria Campus of MGT.

Practical knowledge of the Province is compulsory (not included in the price). Students who can provide proof of their practical experience in the province will be exempted from the practical (RPL).

Assessment Skills Workshop
Pretoria (Gauteng): Makiti GT will run Workshops every last weekend of the month.

Other provinces: Workshops will be scheduled whenever a number of students indicate that they are ready to attend. Students wishing to complete the course before the next workshop in their province, are welcome to join the Pretoria workshop at the above given times.
